Supporting Nerve Regeneration Research
Struck a Nerve was founded in the hopes to raise money towards nerve regeneration research, a cause deeply important to me. Prior to my accident, I had goals of participating in a variety of races, such as the Moab 240 and an IRONMAN, however I was told I would never be able to. I am proud to say that after my Surgeon gave me the green light to start running post surgery I am taking on the challenge of completing an IRONMAN in under 1 year of training. This is an ambitious goal considering how Injured I am, while also teaching myself how to swim, bike, and run for an IRONMAN with one arm since I am still currently recovering. I was told it would never be possible to run long distance ever again. However it’s in the pursuit of facing the impossible that we are able to show others anything is possible.
I plan on raising money through a variety of fundraisers held throughout the year, leading up to my first ever, IRONMAN. All funds raised will be donated to The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at Kings College London through Professor Jonathon Corcoran. His lab specializes in a new oral drug for spinal cord injuries.
